CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

REACH, DISCIPLE, SEND WITH THE GOSPEL

Children’s Ministries

At Salem we want to provide a place for children of all ages to experience what following Jesus means. Our staff and volunteers spend time with the children, both having fun and also teaching them from God’s Word. Our desire is to help them see what it means to place their personal faith in Christ, and then become a life-long disciple of His.

Parents

Children’s Ministry at Salem comes alongside parents to help raise their children in the love and ways of the Lord so that their children may come to know the Lord in a real and personal way, becoming life-long disciples of Jesus.

What We Teach

Children learn as much from what they see as what they hear.  As our teachers teach in age-appropriate Jesus-centered Bible-based ways, their lives also bear witness to that truth so that the children get to know God in real and personal ways through them.

Nursery (Birth - 23 months)

Our nursery (0-23 months) is staffed with faithful followers of Jesus who have passed a background screening, and who enjoy working with nursery-aged children. We have procedures and pagers to ensure that these children’s needs are met.

For nursery times, select Central Campus or East Campus.

Children (Age 2 - 6th Grade)

Our Children's Ministries actively engages with children from ages 2 through 6th grade with Sunday morning and Wednesday evening programming.  Come and join us!

Sunday School

We are excited to provide Bible-based Jesus-centered teaching for your child on Sunday mornings between Labor Day and Memorial Day.  Our preschool programs are for children two and above and are led by a team of qualified teachers and assistants. For children kindergarten through 4th grade, we provide engaging Sunday school classes building a biblical foundation.  Students in 5th and 6th grade participate in classes that focus on the practical living out of their faith.

For Sunday School times, select Central Campus or East Campus.

Wednesday Evening Children's Programs

6:30 - 8:00 pm - East Campus
Both our Central Campus and East Campus children join together at the East Campus from Labor Day through April ,in Moorhead for Wednesday evening children’s programming for children age 3 (on or before August 1st) through 6th grade.

AWANA Cubbies

This is a 2-year program for children who are one or two years away from starting Kindergarten. The evening is filled with verse memorization, songs, stories, and book time. Children must be at least 3 years -old on or before August 1st of the corresponding school year.

AWANA Sparks

This is a 3-year program for Kindergarten - 2nd grade children. Each evening consists of Game Time, Handbook Time and Counsel Time. Handbook Time is when children recite the verses they have learned at home and interact with their leader and small group. Throughout the year there are special nights—Backwards Night and Crazy Hair Night, just to mention a few.

iExplore

This is for 3rd and 4th graders. Here children will get an overview of the New Testament by focusing on Matthew and Acts. We begin the evening in small groups where kids get to know each other and begin to focus on the evening’s lesson. Then we enjoy some gym time. The evening ends all together in large group time. During the winter we enjoy preparing and holding a pinewood derby style race night. Each car has a theme from Matthew or Acts.

Motiv8

5th/6th will begin the evening with conversation, an ice-breaker activity and a large group lesson. Following all this is small group time where kids can interact with their leaders about the message of the evening and other things that are on their mind. The evening will finish in the gym. From time to time we are involved with service projects at Great Plains Food Bank and Open Doors 65. Each summer, the children have opportunity to experience a week-long service project in Minneapolis.

Child Baptism

When a child has come to personal faith in Jesus and has given evidence of this faith and desires to make public confession of this faith, we will baptize him/her.
