Pastor Ken Bohney is passionate about building a welcoming, authentic Christ-loving community at Salem. He joined the Salem team in September 2016 as the Moorhead Campus Pastor. Prior to arriving in Minnesota, Ken led the Adult and Life Groups Ministries and served on the teaching team at Capital Church in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ken came to faith in Christ at the age of 30 at a Bible church in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He refers to himself as a “spiritual mutt” with a variety of denominational experiences in his lifetime. Ken further fueled his passion for Christian community by earning Master’s Degrees in Ministry Leadership and Divinity from Rockbridge Seminary. He also has a bachelor of arts in Administration from Loyola Marymount University.
Before entering into full-time ministry, Ken’s heart for people grew as he held a variety of jobs including carpentry, pizza delivery, real estate, ski area lift operations, trail cutting, beer sales, waste recovery sales management, internet marketing; and perhaps his favorite job of all, driving a shuttle van for a river tubing business.
Even though he is a Southern California native who grew up near the beach, Ken lived in the mountains of Colorado for a decade where he met his South Dakotan wife, Vicki. Since their marriage in 2000, they have enjoyed the blessings of three wonderful children and a rescued Husky. Ken is an exuberant people-person who loves golfing, racquetball, fishing, snow skiing, biking and water skiing, especially when done with friends or family. He and Vicki love watching movies and cheering on their kids at orchestra concerts and hockey and baseball games.
