Holding Up Half the Sky: A Biblical Case for Women Leading and Teaching in the Church (Graham Joseph Hill)

Online via Zoom.  9:00-10:00 a.m.  Led by Gayle Johnson

Graham Joseph Hill offers historical context, an exploration of culture in the early church, an extensive analysis of Pauline writings, and Jesus' example as he encourages the entire Church to flourish by using their gifts for the benefit of God's kingdom.Hill states that "this is an important topic for so many reasons. We must deal with it as honestly, fairly, and graciously as possible. And we must seek to be true to the biblical witness."This Sunday School class is for everyone who has interest and curiosity in this topic. The conclusions of the author do not match some of the historical traditions of Salem. Our hope is to have thoughtful discussions that honor scripture. In addition to the main text, there will be supplementary materials from remarkable biblical scholars. We will receive insight from each other as we discuss these sources and ideas.
