June Elder Corner

Friends and Family,

Thanks for taking the time to read this edition of Elder Corner. We consider this an important rhythm (once a quarter) to make sure our church is up to date on some of the behind-the-scenes things that are going on.

Nicaragua Update

You may remember that as a church, we’ve been raising money through June for our partner church in Nicaragua. Only $45 will send a kid to school for the year with all the necessary requirements. I’m thrilled to report that we raised over $4700! That sends over 100 kids to school for the year! Praise God for this wonderful report and thank you to each of you who helped make that possible! I love the giving spirit that our church has in these moments of focused need!

Financial Update

May giving was lower than hoped ($88,851), though we are very thankful as our year-to-date giving remains slightly ahead of last year. We are thankful for God’s provision, as well the church continues to maintain a healthy cash position, and the careful stewardship of expenses has helped offset some of the gap between giving and budgeted expectations. While all of that is encouraging, we want to take this time to encourage prayerful intentionality by all those who call Salem home.

I would encourage you to think about all the stories we read on Celebration Sunday, and Josh’s incredible testimony about how God has gripped his heart and taken him out of slavery to sin and drugs and given him a new identity and purpose. God is at work. Think about the reports from Summer Blast. Or the report on local outreach through Ellen Hopkins Bike Distribution, Community Garden, and more (see the video HERE)! God is at work in amazing ways, building bridges and opening doors for the gospel. Our building will continue to need some updates as well. While we want to be great stewards, we also realize that ministry needs financial backing. Would you prayerfully consider investing as we continue to make Vision progress for God’s kingdom?

Fargo Campus Update

We realize that the Fargo campus was a big part of Salem’s rich history. As such, we are hoping to do some kind of worship and prayer sometime this summer for all those who are interested. You can look out for more details.

We also realize that the proceeds are now a big part of Salem’s bright future. In the meantime, the proceeds will be going into an investment account so that it can gain interest, but please be praying that God would make it clear how it might be best to use that money for the sake of building his kingdom.

Youth Pastor Search Update

The Search Team has identified a possible candidate that we’re working with to see if they might be the right fit for our youth and team. Please be in prayer for the process, the team, and all individuals as we trust God to provide the right person at the right time. I know that sometimes it feels slow, but this is entirely normal. Hang in there. God knows and has a plan.

Please be sure to find one of us on a Sunday morning if you have any questions or prayer requests!

I really appreciate the update from the Elders, and especially ALL your dedicated service. It would be helpful to actually list the elders so we know who is currently serving.
