It has been debated as to where this miracle actually took place. The traditional site is the Church of the Multiplication in Tabgha on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. While the exact location of this miracle has been debated, we know that this miracle took place on some surrounding hillside around the lake. The picture below was taken in late spring and early summer when the grass was all dried up. Mark mentions the grass being green indicating that it would have likely taken place in early spring after the winter rains but before the high summer temperatures.
